Backend Developer Intern

JOB DESCRIPTION
This position entails an unpaid internship. As a Backend Developer Intern at Digital Factory, you will be presented with the opportunity to collaborate with our seasoned development team on stimulating projects that significantly influence our core operations. Your responsibilities will encompass acquiring practical experience in the design, development, testing, and maintenance of scalable backend solutions crucial to driving our applications and services.

Reports to: Adrian Delancy, Technology
Location: Chicago, Illinois

THIS POSITION WILL ENTAIL:

  • Collaborate with senior developers to design and implement backend services and APIs.

  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code using programming languages such as [mention languages/technologies relevant to your stack, e.g., Python, Node.js, Java, etc.].

  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.

  • Work with databases (SQL and/or NoSQL) to store and retrieve data effectively.

  • Ensure the security and integrity of backend systems by implementing best practices and security protocols.

  • Optimize backend performance for speed and scalability.

  • Troubleshoot and debug issues to maintain system stability.

  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to contribute innovative ideas.

  • Other duties as assigned.

DESIRED SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong understanding of backend development concepts, data structures, and algorithms.

  • Proficiency in at least one backend programming language (e.g., Python, Java, Node.js).

  • Familiarity with web frameworks (e.g., Flask, Django, Spring Boot) and RESTful APIs.

  • Knowledge of database management systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.

  • Basic understanding of version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaboration tools (e.g., GitHub).

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.

  • familiarity with other languages like Go, Ruby, or PHP REQUIRED EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

  • 1+ years of experience in people management

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with Cloud Platforms

  • 2+ years of experience in people management

  • Knowledge of Microservices Architecture
